Abolish Slavery VA
Solitary No More VA
Abolish Slavery VA is a statewide coalition dedicated to removing slavery from Virginia’s Constitution by eliminating the “punishment clause” that allows involuntary servitude in prisons. By bringing together justice-impacted individuals, faith leaders, advocates, and grassroots organizations, the coalition works to ensure Virginia takes a historic step toward equity and human rights. Their organizing, education, and advocacy efforts are essential to dismantling systemic injustice at its constitutional roots.
The Solitary Coalition is a powerful network committed to ending the use of long-term solitary confinement in Virginia prisons. Through survivor testimony, legislative advocacy, and community education, the coalition shines a light on the devastating physical and psychological harms caused by isolation. By centering the voices of those directly impacted, the Solitary Coalition advances humane alternatives to incarceration practices and works to align Virginia’s correctional system with human rights standards.
